Heal Until You Drop

The relentless march to
finding your higher self
and your own personal
spiritual enlightenment

Enlightenment, spirituality, mindfulness, self awareness, gratitude. These are just a handful of the new age lexicon, the scrabble board for the older and newest generations of humans seeking their own best life.

Being happy has changed and it’s driving me crazy. There were always self help gurus and their how to books on a number of topics.

How to lose twenty pounds in a month.

How to meet the person of your dreams….

How to win friends and influence people, etc etc

And don’t get me started on Influencers and life coaches. Influencers are the most narcissistic, vapid, empty headed people who have been convinced by others that their physical beauty has entitled them to a life of free everything.

And life coaches- are you kidding me? How is some thirty something, single with no children or real job, man or woman, feel qualified to tell anyone how to live a better life and fix their problems? What have they endured in their short time on earth that has given them such perception ? Taken a yoga teacher training class for two weeks? Walked on hot coals in front of Tony Robbins?

Being happy used to be easier. If you had a job that you enjoyed, a loving relationship, a dog or two, you felt good. Other people even told you that you had it all.

Today? Forget about it. There is a daily barrage of headlines on social media telling us we can’t be happy unless we find out Who we really are!  We must take courses on “finding our inner child “ or we need to go to Silent Retreats where if we sit still and quiet long enough we can find everything that’s wrong with us. But then we have to wait until we can go somewhere where we can talk about it!

I see the daily advertisements for all the workshops and retreats. So many. More workshops than problems I think. Just ask your psychologist if you’re good to go. Their answer will be, “come back next week and we’ll talk about it “

I know people from my high school days who couldn’t tell a mantra from a mudra, or Yogi Bhajan from Yogi the bear! And you know what? They’re happy. Really happy, with love and a family and friends. They don’t need to Walk on hot coals to find their self worth.

Neither do you!

Peace, love and Namaste
